"So many kinds of wrong" - speaker meeting 2022

We held our speaker meeting on 20th June, the start of Refugee Week.

The venue was the magnificent church of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and we are hugely grateful to the clergy, staff and volunteers there for their considerable support with all aspects of the event.

Keynote speaker was Revd Dr Sam Wells, who set out a 'theological response' to the government's policy of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda, in the process demolishing every single plank of justification that we have heard from politicians.  Headed "So many kinds of wrong...", it was a superb speech and can be read in full by clicking here.

We've also included some pictures here in three groups, showing something of the 'scene' at St Martin's, photos of Sam in full flight, and images of other contributors.  We heard short presentations from Roula and Ola of Happy Baby Community, and from Mark of Hackney Night Shelter, just two of the many projects supported by LCRF.  And we were treated to some absolutely stunning music from Rafa Salti (vocals) and Neil Georgeson (chamber organ) who performed two Arabic Christian hymns.  To them, and everyone else, a very big thank you!

The video of the evening will remain for a time on the St Martin's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/stmartininthefields.  You may need to scroll past more recent posts.  Or this link should take you straight to the video: https://www.facebook.com/stmartininthefields/videos/385587383548340.  The actual talking starts about 15 mins into the recording.
